Gacaca is a traditional justice system in Rwanda used to address crimes, particularly those related to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The word "gacaca" means "grass" in Kinyarwanda, symbolizing the idea of justice being administered in open-air community meetings. It prioritizes truth-telling and community healing, aiming to promote reconciliation and restore social cohesion. This design also features a traditional Rwandese-woven basket called "agaseke", which has become a symbol of peace and goodwill amongst families and friends.
